The Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of our heritage in instrument craftsmanship. Only offered in limited production runs, these rare pieces allow us to present instruments to the public that were previously reserved for family and artists. This spring features the Short Scale StingRay "Bombshell" bass. 


The Ball Family Reserve Short Scale StingRay "Bombshell" bass features a lightweight ash body with a hi-gloss black finish. The gloss finished white maple neck/fingerboard is accented nicely with dazzling tortoiseshell block inlays and rarely seen matching shell neck binding. 


The electronics package is equipped with a powerful neodymium humbucking pickup, highlighted with a 3-way rotary switch featuring parallel, true single-coil, and series tones. Other key features include a matching painted black headstock, a matching tortoiseshell pickguard, chrome hardware, and ergonomic, lightweight cloverleaf tuners.

The Ernie Ball Music Man short-scale StingRay Special bass offers a big thumpy round sound in a convenient smaller package. A 30” scale allows for easier playability due to the shorter spacing between the frets. The body is made from ash and the neck is constructed from hard rock maple with either maple or rosewood fingerboard (depending on colour option).

The Ernie Ball Music Man humbucking pickup, equipped with higher output neodymium magnets, has been specially designed for the short scale bass - providing its signature warm tone. Electronics package includes a 3-way rotary switch featuring parallel, true single-coil, and series modes. All three pickup selections’ audio signals can be augmented by a 20dB boost by engaging the push volume pot.

Like its big brother the Stingray Special, the short scale bass comes standard with a modern classic bridge, 22 stainless steel frets, and new lightweight Music Man tuning machines with a finer gear ratio.
