New for 2019

Here is the new Slant” version of the BA 210-3, this give a 6º kick back angle which helps on tighter stages and really help project the mids and highs to where you need them most, you ears!!

The Bottom Line

Whether you are a “10’s guy” or a “12’s guy,” Genzler Amplification has several options for you. I love the mix and match with the slanted and non-slanted cabs, and the combination of the BA210-3 SLT with a BA410-3 is certainly an amazing rig. Throw an MG-800 on top, and the world is your oyster!

GENZLER AMPLIFICATION is proud to launch our new brand with the introduction of a uniquely new approach to bass instrument loudspeaker design, the Bass Array 210-3.

Although the same size as many premium 2 x 10” and tweeter cabinets this new design is so much more complex and rewarding to the performer.

This innovative design blends the benefits of a 2 x 10” vented bass reflex design with the performance and pattern control of a 4 x 3” neodymium driver line array element.  The benefits of combining both design platforms in an extremely compact cabinet are exponential for the player:

  1. Full, deep, low frequency response from the high efficiency 10” ported woofers -- doing what it does best.  Excellent support of the low B fundamental of 5 string instruments.

  2. A selective crossover point overcomes the “beaming” (pattern narrowing) effects of a full range signal being reproduced by larger low frequency drivers.

  3. Lowers midrange and high frequency distortion by allowing the use of small, high performance cone transducers that would otherwise be unsuitable without the increased acoustic sensitivity obtained by the array design.

  4. This design provides a more open, smoother midrange and high frequency response because of the ideal natural characteristics of the mid-high frequency array when compared to a conventional tweeter that cannot reproduce the crucial midrange frequencies without pattern control or un-natural distortion.

What this means in the context of performance is the most focused, defined, musical, smooth and seamless response possible throughout the BA210-3’s entire full-range bandwidth.   Additionally the placement of the Line Array in front of the 10” woofers further provides a type of “single point source” projection---think of it as concentric speakers, one inside of the other, in the same linear plane.  Also due to line array principals the all-important mid and high frequencies have a much wider horizontal dispersion with a more controlled vertical pattern.  This offers the most even projection possible around the perimeter of the stage and audience.

Customer feedback

Peter who purchased a Magellan 800 and 2 x bass array cabinets - 10/05/0215

Having watched the video a few times and considered all the options, I spent a few hours at Bass Direct in Warwick today (thanks for the advice and patience by the way, Mark!)

Having A/B'd the B12-3 Array vs the 212t +112 (together as a stack) for a fair while I came away with the Magellan 800 with 2 x B12-3 Array cabs. Of course it's early days but I'm mightily impressed with what I've heard so far.

The 'journey' (we all have one, right?) went from Ampeg SVT classic / 410HLF, then D class Ampeg Pf500 + 2x pf115 or pf115 + pf410 hlf when the previous one got too heavy to lug around. Over the past 2 years much of the ACDC / Thin Lizzy material has been gradually replaced with Queen, Bowie, Zep plus a load of more varied / lighter stuff and I found the Ampeg rig a bit limited. Mark at Bass Direct suggested I try out the Magellan stuff and so a month later here I am: £2K poorer but so much happier in terms of what I'm playing through.

I'll follow up in a month or so's time once I've had a chance to gig the rig and really put it through its paces. For now - having read the forum avidly whilst pondering, I thought I'd put something back in for the next person facing the same 'shall I / shan't I' dilemma!

So far so brilliant!
