A limited edition of just 12 basses that are inspired by a bass made to special order back in 1957. We have one available on a very special offer!

In 1957 a special order was placed at Höfner for a Violin Bass with only one pickup. This was produced and delivered and appears to be the only example of such a bass. We have now produced a limited run of 12 basses that replicate that original instrument from 1957. With a single black bar pickup, oval control panel and antique violin finish these basses are a must for all collectors and enthusiasts of the famous 500/1 Violin Bass series.

Handmade in Germany

The Hofner 500/1 violin bass was designed by Walter Hofner and launched at the Frankfurt Music Messe in 1956. It has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable electric bass guitars in the music world in terms of both looks and sound.

Founded in 1864, Hofner's comprehensive range of guitars draws on the firms long-standing success making precision string instruments for musicians. The Beatles' Sir Paul McCartney played a Hofner Violin Bass, and the company's superb attention to detail and stylish design has continued to inspire both rock and jazz musicians to this day. Despite the numerous changes over 125 years the company is still strongly a family firm with strong values for customers, and for high quality, musical instruments.

Based on the original 1962 Hofner model. Fully hollow body. Original Hofner '62 neck profile for added sustain and playability. Also available in left-handed version.

Including a Hofner Vintage strap and Hofner case.
