A Limited Edition of just 6 pieces this special bass is inspired by the original model made in 1958 but with a contemporary look and feel. A high gloss lacquer has been applied to the natural woods in conjunction with black binding to produce a stunning looking bass. Like the original 1958 model, we have used black bar single coil pickups set in the "close spacing" position, a vertical Höfner headstock logo and an oval control panel. The panel on this model is black, for a more modern look, unlike the original which was tortoiseshell. Black control knobs have also been used. This is a slight B stock bass.

This bass looks good in any current setting but also has an essential retro vibe. Comes complete with a fitted Höfner black case.

The Hofner 500/1 violin bass was designed by Walter Hofner and launched at the Frankfurt Music Messe in 1956. It has since gone on to become one of the most recognisable electric bass guitars in the music world in terms of both looks and sound.

Founded in 1864, Hofner's comprehensive range of guitars draws on the firms long-standing success making precision string instruments for musicians. The Beatles' Sir Paul McCartney played a Hofner Violin Bass, and the company's superb attention to detail and stylish design has continued to inspire both rock and jazz musicians to this day. Despite the numerous changes over 125 years the company is still strongly a family firm with strong values for customers, and for high quality, musical instruments.

Based on the original 1962 Hofner model. Fully hollow body. Original Hofner '62 neck profile for added sustain and playability.
