Quote from Chris Wynn a Bergantino and Auaralex user.

'If you are fed up with fighting boomy stages and uncooperative

cellars the GRAMMA could be the answer to your prayers. It is an

isolation platform made of carpet covered MDF with wide foam 'rails' on

the long edges on the bottom with the gap between filled with pyramid

acoustic foam. Putting your amplification on this platform reduces

acoustic coupling by, it is claimed, 90%, it certainly seems like it. My

rig consists of a '69 Precision through an ancient (but wonderful 25

year old) Marshall IBS 200 through two Bergie HT112s; the sound from

this system is as close to heaven as my ears have yet heard, however,

having been told about the GRAMMA by my old friend Harry O'Shea I

thought I'd better investigate. As he put it in his email, 'the hype is

true!' Putting your bass rig on the platform removes the room influence

from the equation in, as Auralex the manufacturers claim, 90% of your

gigs. This means consistent sound where ever you play - no more fiddling

to find the sweet spot, just plug in, switch on and play. I am one happy

bunny.

So what about the other 10% I hear you ask? Simple, don't use it! You

will soon find out where it works and where it is not needed, I have

suddenly started getting compliments about my sound from the punters,

since when does the bass player ever get compliments! Try it,  I think

you'll like it.'

Submitted on the  7th October 2014 by Glynn who purchased an Auralex GRAMMA pad

Hi Mark,

I have had chance to test the Auralex Gramma over a number of gigs now and am very pleased with it.  A regular Sunday gig in a small acoustically poor room with a hollow stage this weekend nailed it.

A member of the public said she didn’t know what was different about the bass sound but she liked it.  I knew!!

Like everyone has said, a good product – and I would recommend the extra money to buy the gig bag.

Submitted on the 30th October by Nathan who purchased a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 amplifier and  Bergantino CN212 cabinet plus Auralex Gramma

My main purpose of visiting bass direct was to purchase a bass amp and cab which would fit in my car. I had already done my research (with a few phone calls to Bass Direct) and decided what I wanted depending on the sound of the amp and Cab and that it would fit in my car. I brought along my own basses to try. Plugged it in; sounded great. I also tried another amp which didn't sound as natural to me. Once I was happy with the sound, we checked to make sure it would fit car. How many other shops would let you do that?

I also use the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 with a Vox Cab, it gets the sound of the bass, compared to my old trace elliot (1990) which had a great sound, but made everything sound the same. One word of caution, an early gig on a racked stage, the amp started vibrating off the cab, so you may need to purchase a non-slip mat for a few quid. I'd be interested to see if Bergantino bring out a lightweight 4x10, that would be killer (if it fits in my boot).

I had read many comments about the Auralex GRAMMA claiming it was the best £45 or so they had spent. Even in the shop a customer told me the same thing. All I can say is, my bass sound is very consistent from gig to gig now, where I would sometimes have a boomy sound caused by a hollow stage. My only regret, is that I didn't purchase a gig bag for it. It comes in a box with a handle but the cardboard has recently decided to split and the handle no longer works.

Thanks for you help.

Hi all

I recently picked up an Auralex Gramma pad from the folks at Bass direct - I've used it a few times now and it's one of the best 40-odd quids I've ever spent.

The main reason I bought it is to help me in my battle with the bass-hating stage at a gig I play frequently with a number of different bands. I've played there for years, and the bass is generally a muddy mush thanks to the hollow stage.

The Gramma tidies up the messy, wallowy bottom end, and the punch and definition of my cabs is retained. I played there yesterday with one of my bands (who are LOUD, with lots of mics on stage) and our sound chap reckons cutting the rumble has really made his job easier.

So.. there you go!

Submitted on the 28th October 2011 by Alex who purchased an Auralex Great Gramma

Hi Mark

Just wanted to let you know how well I'm getting on with the Gramma Pad. I did three gigs in three different venues back to back the other weekend using the Gramma pad. Wow! After a bit of tweaking the EQ my Ashdown rig sounded the best it ever had and I didn't have to touch the EQ for the next two. The gigs varied from hollow wooden stages to a solid tiled floor but the sound of the bass never changed. Best money I've spent of bass kit for a long time. Thanks again for all your help.

Alex

We all spend good money on our amps/cabinets/monitors but sometimes the floor itself works against us. Speaker cabinets can interact with the floor, resulting in a loss of intelligibility. The GRAMMA is an incredibly effective device that's used to float an amp or loudspeaker and yields nearly total acoustic isolation, resulting in a purity of tone that has to be heard to be believed! GRAMMA comes complete with a carrying handle, road-ready carpet, Studiofoam Wedges (underneath) and hi-density PlatFoam. 1 or 2 GRAMMAs (23 x 15 inch) will support most amps, speaker cabinets, subwoofers & monitors weighing up to 300 lbs.

What are people saying about the new GRAMMA?

Auralex products are unchallenged both live and in the studio. I love Auralex's new GRAMMA. Onstage it really smooths all my guitar tones. In clubs, theaters and even outdoors, the GRAMMA really makes a huge difference... The production crew of Tower of Power was so impressed, they started using them underneath the horn section monitors, the keyboardist's LESLIE speaker and several drum mics... FANTASTIC results all the way around.

Jeff Tamelier, Guitarist, Tower of Power

...Low end much more focused. I was able to dial in exactly what I wanted, w/out room resonance's.

My two recording amps stay on the stands. If we switch amps, they go right back on the stands.

All the little buzzes & rattles normally in a room go away immediately.

Lee Roy Parnell, Vanguard Recording Artist

Awesome... made all the difference in playing small rooms... Cleaned up my sound... I now enjoy my full volume tone at lower volumes.

Benito DiBartoli, Blues guitarist

Low Frequency Drum Resonance Isolation... What a concept! I recommend the PlatFoam for any drummer who needs to eliminate complaints from the neighbors or family members. I would also highly recommend it for studios that want to prevent low frequency resonance bleed. The PlatFoam is simple to use, simple in concept and is simply amazing!
